Join the party, get a discount – volunteer to work at ONA12!

News

The ONA12 Volunteer Committee is looking for volunteers to work before, during (and a little bit after) the ONA12 conference in San Francisco this September. Come meet and work alongside the best minds in online journalism, and revel in the satisfaction of pulling off one of the best events in the industry.

Qualifications: A nice smile, a love of digital journalism (and journalists) and a firm commitment.

In return, you’ll get a nice discount and guaranteed registration to what has been a sold-out conference five years running. A full-time volunteer will be assigned eight to 10 hours and a half-time volunteer will be assigned four to six hours. Full-time volunteers receive a 100 percent discount on registration and half-time volunteers receive a 50 percent discount off early-bird registration.

There’s plenty of camaraderie, lots of sugar and caffeine, and reasonable hours that allow you time to network and take advantage of what’s at the conference.

If you’re planning to attend or, even better, are already in the San Francisco area, fill out the ONA12 Volunteer Application and tell us about yourself and the days and times you’re available. If selected, you’ll be assigned a slot or slots based on your availability and skill set.

Also, the ONA12 Stream Team is looking for volunteers to live stream the conference and banquet. Volunteers should have experience in videography and live video streaming software (familiarity with Livestream preferred). You can volunteer as a videographer, a stream producer or both, but you would likely not be doing both simultaneously.

If you’re interested, please fill out the ONA12 Stream Team Application. And if you have any questions, contact Greg Linch at ONA12video@journalists.org.

We’ll be in touch in the coming weeks to confirm your participation.

Cheers,
Laura Cochran
ONA12 Volunteer Chair

Registration is officially open for the 2012 Online News Association Conference & Awards Banquet, Sept. 20-22, San Francisco. Tip: The earlier you register, the lower your fee.

Starting today, members and non-members will have eight weeks to sign up for the conference at early-bird prices. Then the cost goes up incrementally to avoid that last-minute crunch. There are 1,000 registrations available for ONA12. Once they’re sold out, they really are sold out.

Register now.
