Amanda Michel is the Open Editor for the Guardian US and a co-founder of SparkCamp. CJR recently named her to its ’20 Women to Watch’ list. She was awarded a 2010 Knight-Batten Special Distinction Award for her crowdsourcing projects at ProPublica. Prior to ProPublica, Michel directed Huffington Post’s OffTheBus, a ground-breaking citizen journalism site. Michel got her start working on campaigns, and together with colleagues co-founded the New Organizing Institute. She is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University School of Journalism and holds a seat on Poynter’s National Advisory Board.
