Jon Vidar is a digital strategist and freelance photographer who focuses on telling stories through new media and visual imagery.

His work leading numerous online initiatives has been recognized with three Webby Awards, the 2011 SXSW Interactive Award for Activism, a Gracie Award, and the 2011 OJA for Community Collaboration, among many others.

Most notably, in 2007, Jon joined Andrew McGregor and Tom Rippe to start The Tiziano Project and has since led new media journalism training programs on four continents ranging from Iraq to the San Carlos Apache Reservation in Arizona.

In 2011, Jon and The Tiziano Project were awarded a Knight News Challenge grant to develop StoriesFrom (www.storiesfrom.us), an immersive, HTML5 storytelling platform for easily creating collaborative documentaries.

Jon earned a master’s degree in Communication Management from the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California where he is currently Adjunct Faculty.
