Two days left to apply to the ONA12 Student Newsroom!

There’s just two days left to apply for the Student Newsroom at the Online News Association’s annual conference, Sept. 20-22, in San Francisco. Application deadline is 6 p.m. ET, March 29.

Working in the Student Newsroom means you get:

  • an all-expense paid trip to San Francisco and conference registration, courtesy of Google.
  • to provide all coverage for ONA12 on the conference website.
  • to attend sessions led by experts in digital journalism
  • to work with other hand-picked, talented student journalists and mentors who are leaders in the field

Apply here.

The Student Newsroom, sponsored for the third year in a row by Google, puts you right in the middle of the action. You will create content before and during the conference for the ONA12 website. You’ll have access to the top minds in digital journalism and be paired with expert mentors to develop your reporting. You will acquire and flex new media skills. You will have the opportunity to network like crazy.

You must be enrolled at a college or university as of Sept. 20, 2012, with a demonstrated interest in digital journalism, either pursuing a degree or producing digital media. Both graduate and undergraduate students are eligible. ONA membership is not required. Twenty students will be invited, and a waiting list will be maintained.

In return, you must commit to attending all three days of the conference and will be expected to be at the conference venue early Thursday morning, Sept. 20, for coverage planning, newsroom set-up and training activities.

To apply:

  • Complete the ONA12 Student Newsroom Application.
  • Email a letter of recommendation from a faculty adviser or supervisor and a photo to newsroom@journalists.org.
  • All application materials must be submitted by 6 p.m. ET, March 29.
