Eric Carvin is the social media editor at The Associated Press, where he helps guide more than 2,000 journalists on their social newsgathering and engagement adventures. He directs social media strategy throughout AP’s global news operations, overseeing the use of online tools and networks to uncover breaking news, gather user-generated content, connect with readers and promote AP stories and visuals.
Throughout his 12-year AP career, Carvin has focused on the news cooperative’s fundamental mission: gathering and distributing the news while maintaining the highest journalistic standards. Previous roles at AP have given him extensive experience with supervising the news report and with innovative and interactive storytelling.
Away from work, Carvin enjoys hunting berries in Central Park (though lately, he spends more time changing diapers, which is fulfilling in a different way).
